Oracle
Oracle, Brewery Wharf, Leeds
Situated in the newly developed Brewery Wharf, over looking the water, Oracle is an oasis for the more discerning customer looking for an alternative from Greek Street and Call Lane. A stunning building with a 360 degree glass space, spilt onto 2 levels with a unique outdoor terrace over looking the River Aire, Oracle offers something for everybody. Downstairs screams modern simplicity with a good quality ‘Gourmet Burger’ menu and selection of wines, spirits and beers, in stark comparison to the opulent décor of Oracle First Floor, a member’s only space, with its decadent surroundings and vast selection of cocktails and champagnes. Aimed at a glamorous, over 25's crowd who enjoy the finer things in life, Oracle First Floor offers no apologies for it's exclusivity but tries to steer clear from the pretentious self importance that have seen other members only bars fail in Leeds. Be sure to indulge in the superb Sunday brunch menu that includes bacon butties, fresh fruit platters or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, whilst poring over the papers. It's the little extra things and attention to detail that all add up to create a wow factor, that makes Oracle a unique and unrivalled dining experience both day and night!

Acoustics are bad - it's got the atmosphere of a bus terminal. Burgers were black and hard as hockey pucks. The guy sat next to me cut his mouth on his. We asked the waitress if this was normal. She asserted that it indeed was. That's what all their burgers are like. Yeah, I know, the English are not renowned for their mastery of the art of the burger - and any time it's not prepared boiled in gravy we should thank the gods, but this was an insult. Needless to say, I'd advise avoiding the place like the plague, as well as its sister joint "Battered", the Fish and Chip place which looked deserted, in the same courtyard. Check out the video at:

It says more than words ever could. I'll be posting the longer version on youtube, but basically, it was comedically bad. The owner since offered me dinner on the house to make up for it, but tbh, at this point I’m not sure I'd want to eat there even if it was free.

The food, is great. I always recommend anyone samples the Oracle ultimate burger. However, with one or two exceptions, the staff are useless and you are often waiting up to ten minutes before you've even been greeted or asked if you'd like to order. Waiting times for just drinks are long (you often see your drinks waiting on the bar for someone to bring them) and the staff have clearly had very little training on the finer points of waiter service.
