The forces behind the world famous Cream and some of Liverpool’s chicest nightspots are set to bring cutting edge class to Leeds.
Babycream is a new Leeds bar and restaurant from the partnership of Cream founder James Barton, and the Lyceum Group (owners of trend-setting celeb hangouts Blue Bar and Panam on Liverpool’s Albert Dock). With breathtaking interior design, it promises to inject something new and exciting into the Leeds scene. Babycream Leeds will have the cutting edge in music, combined with quality eating and premium drinks and cocktails.
Drawing on all the values that Cream represents, and staying true to the Cream brand as an icon of style and music, babycream is set to be the place to see and be seen in Leeds – a destination bar in the truest sense.
Babycream Leeds
Cream has a strong tradition in clubbing, festivals (including the hugely popular Creamfields), and records, but the success of the first babycream bar and restaurant, which opened in Liverpool last year, shows how the brand can also be successfully extended to cool bar and restaurants.
Rob Gutmann, owner of the Lyceum Group, said: “Leeds was the obvious choice for our second babycream launch. It is a rapidly growing, young city with a craving, and appreciation, for exceptional places to eat and drink. Residents of Leeds like to go out, but they like to go to the right places. There is already an array of cool bars and fantastic restaurants in the city but babycream will bring something unique and fresh to the offering.
With the opening of babycream Leeds we are pushing the boundaries further than ever. The bar will have a 600 capacity, and the restaurant will seat another 80. The bar and restaurant will reflect the particular building and the Leeds scene, but will share many of the features unique to babycream that have made it such an aspirational venue in Liverpool.”
Babycream Liverpool is the coolest venue in the North West, with features including the virtual world bar, a sumptuous chocolate box-style powder room for Ladies only, a top-end restaurant and the hugely innovative ‘Creamselector’, which allows drinkers and diners to compile their very own CDs from a track selection of thousands.
James Barton, founder of Cream, said: “Music is a massively important part of the babycream offering and, although babycream is a bar and restaurant, not a club, the late licence and our creative control of all the music played, will mean that some areas of the bar will have a clubby-vibe. The beauty of babycream is there will be areas and aspects that will appeal to everyone - from a chilled out coffee and lunch venue during the day, to a cool bar hang-out or sexy boudoir-bar in the evening, to a music-led vibrant bar in the small hours.”
